Baby food, tricks & stories

Everything but the Kitchen Sink... (baby food)

So, life is crazy--especially with two kids. When I need to make room in my fridge, I do a quick veggie/fruit clean out, and throw a bunch of it in a soup pot. I then puree it, and squeeze it into squeeze pouches to freeze for the bebe. Since my kiddos take after me, and definitely love their spices, I throw some goodies in there too--sometimes cumin, turmeric, pepper, thyme, oregano, basil, parsley, cinnamon, you name it.
On this particular day, I had just gotten home from the grocery store, and needed significant fridge space. I immediately started pulling random stuff out of the fridge (including sweet potatoes and garlic), washed/peeled/roughly chopped, and threw it all in some water with some turmeric and cumin, salt and pepper.  I then realized I also had lentils (any bean or pasta would do), and thew those in too--with a little vegetable broth.
As soon as everything became soft, I pureed it in my favorite kitchen gadget--my BLENTEC blender, and put the soup puree in pouches.  Jayden (and actually Aria too) loves it!!

Mamas remember--try not to overcomplicate things, or turn baby food-making into an all day process.  It can be quick, and as easy as pureeing anything you're already eating that day!

I certainly wouldn't call myself an expert on babies, or kids. I do love the heck out of my two kiddos, and love trying new things to keep them happy. These are a few of my baby food recipes, tips on making things easier, and just random funny kid stories to lighten your day.
    Enjoy!
